WANTED FOR TERRORISM...
JESUS CHRIST
Greater
love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends.
John
15 : 13
Not
long after the September 11th attacks on New York City
and Washington DC, President Bush signed the Patriot Bill, 2001
into Law with joyous Americans shouting fervently, "Death to all
terrorists!!!"
Of
course, most Americans didn’t realize that P.B., 2001 is anything
but Patriotic. That bill made every citizen in the United States a
terrorist and spy unto their neighbor, subject to inspection
unheard of since our Founding Fathers went to war with the mother
country of England over 200 years ago. In the signing of that
dangerous Bill, everyone had their Godly, Constitutional and Civil
rights violated.
It
doesn’t matter how innocent you are, you’re considered a
terrorist. If you fit the terrorist profile (the government
doesn’t tell you what that profile is), you’re going to be subject
to interrogation and humiliation. Take a good look at my natural
hard-core appearance. Don’t I look like a terrorist?
There’s
a young lady in our church that’s been wearing a head covering
since childhood. Since September 11th, she’s flown four
times, and at each instant, she’s been pulled out of line and made
to take off her shoes and belt if she’s wearing one; she’s scanned
and patted down; has her collar checked and her long hair, as well
as her carry-on bag searched. Each time, she feels quite
embarrassed by being looked at by the other passengers waiting to
board. Her only crime that anyone of us can figure out is that she
dresses differently than other people, and therefore fits the
terrorist profile. Which means when I need to fly anywhere I’m
going to get the same treatment, and as any American who’s been
taught to be independent knows, I’m going to stand my ground. If
security and I can’t find a common, mutual respect for one
another, I’m going to be arrested and giving interviews from my
jail cell.
Now, if
we take the Patriot Bill, 2001 for what it says to it’s proper,
logical conclusion, and if those stars ‘n’ stripes; red, white and
blue Americans who shout, "Death to all terrorists," really
understand what they’re saying, we must acknowledge that Jesus
Christ deserved His death for the terrorism He spread during His
three-and-a-half year ministry (or reign of terror as would be the
more, politically correct term).
Let’s
go further... Easter is now upon us where Christians the world
over remember with reverence the Supreme act of sacrifice Jesus
did for mankind.
I
grew-up in a semi-Christian environment (that means mother only
took those verses that she liked and discarded the rest. In other
words, Spiritual Smorgasbord) and always wondered during this time
of year why Christ, being Love incarnate, was tortured and nailed
to a cross for doing good deeds.
All I
ever remember hearing from mother and the priest (when you grow up
in an Italian household, you grow up a Roman Catholic) about Jesus
was that He said things like, "Love thy neighbor," "Love thy
enemy," Do good unto others," while performing miracle upon
miracle until He was offered up for the sins of the world.
Something was missing, because it just didn’t make any sense for
anyone to be put to death for preaching love and doing good deeds.
It wasn’t until I became a man and put away childish things that I
discovered the real, three-dimensional Son of God who rebuked the
major political parties of His day; the scribes and Pharisees,
calling them, "Vipers, snakes, hypocrites... beautiful white
sepulchers on the outside, yet having dead men’s bones, full of
uncleanness." (Matthew 23:27)
Jesus.
Who told His followers, "I came not to send peace, but a sword,"
(Matthew 10:34) and "He that hath no sword, let him sell his
garment, and buy one." (Luke 22:36)
Jesus.
Who ministered to the scourge of society such as harlots, drunks,
lepers, and tax collectors, while the pious elite and well to do
looked down, cursing the Man and the Mission.
Jesus.
Who publicly called King Herod a fox (Luke 13:32) as well as told
other public officials they were swine and dogs, gives the most
damning lamentation to the religious leaders in the 24th
chapter of Matthew.
I could
go on and on, but you get the idea with just a handful of
examples. Jesus was not crucified for preaching love and doing
good deeds, but was nailed to a cross for His politics.
Now,
let’s bring it all into perspective in today’s society with the
advent of Patriot Bill, 2001...
Would
Jesus denounce our current leader, George W Bush, for proclaiming
other religions and gods as great and even equal than His Father?
Would
Jesus bring woe upon woe to the world’s religious leaders who have
become politically correct with the government?
Would
Jesus, if He were walking the earth today, saying and doing what
He did nearly 2000 years ago, be labeled a terrorist, with
Patriotic Americans shouting, "Crucify Him!!!"
We must
ask ourselves, especially this time of year, if Jesus Christ were
considered a terrorist by today’s warped standards our own pious
leaders proclaim through their laws, why would He willingly give
up His life for us? Not even Osama bin Laden would consider that
kind of benevolent sacrifice.
Until
next month,
