THANK YOU, SATAN And Pilate said, What evil hath Jesus done? But the people cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. Matthew 27 : 23 Easter. Christmas. Wakes and Weddings. These are perhaps the only four events you will see people from all walks of life and of different faiths (and even some non-believers) enter church doors around the world with somewhat of a moment’s thought to their Creator. Faithful, devout, practicing Christians are not a part of this group, and are therefore excluded. I used to be part of the crowd that attended the Big Four. I was always raised in church and Sunday school; even being an altar boy and singing in the choir, but I just never got anything out of church or the Bible, until I began to break away from the family nest and start to live life. Reading the Holy Scriptures in the comfort of one’s own home is one thing, living through many of those Biblical experiences is another. And if many of you were like me when the Big Four came around, you’d have thoughts like... Easter. Yeah! No school...oh, yeah, this is when Christ died on a cross for me. Christmas. Yeah! No School...oh, yeah, this is when the baby Jesus was born to save us. Wakes. Life seems so short and now it’s over. Weddings. Life is just beginning. During the 80's and 90's when I spent a lot of time in the saddle as a bicyclist-adventurer, I had time to do plenty of thinking and pondering the great mysteries of life and beyond. Having experienced the taste of death from electrocution only to be reborn, I’ve come to see the beyond as an extension of life, and what a wonderful, joyful experience it is. However, those types of experiences do have their downside. To view Paradise and return to your body is a curse, just as paying a visit to Hades and returning is a blessing. You are humbled and in awe upon meeting Christ, just as you become courageous and fearless when encountering Satan. Wakes are a time to remember and reflect. Weddings are a time to celebrated and anticipate. Christmas is a time to open yourself up to the Spiritual experience that permeates and floods the world over. Easter is a time to...thank Satan. THANK SATAN??? Yeah. Thank Satan. For if it wasn’t for Satan’s sheer ego and consummated hatred for God’s son, there would never be a Savior of the world to blot out our sins. Pride. Ego. A haughty spirit. These qualities have always been Satan’s stumbling blocks. Ever since he wanted to rule Heaven, he can’t quite get it into his thorny little head that the creature cannot rule over the Creator. Of course, that hasn’t stopped him from being a pain in the butt as he reins havoc over the earth. Since he is pure evil, he has no concept of how his Creator; his God thinks. Within the Old Testament, the Lord even laid out the groundwork; the foundation of when Jesus, His son, was to come to earth and what His mission would be. Satan read the Scriptures; studied them from scroll to scroll, and still lacked the wisdom, knowledge and understanding needed to know what the master plan was all about. All Satan could think about was hurting his Creator; getting back at God for demoting him from the number two spot and throwing him out of Heaven. His ego blinded him to the point that he took great joy in having Jesus killed; watching and laughing while the King of kings cried out in agony during the excruciating torment He received from man; His creation. Only until Christ was crucified and shed his precious blood upon the cross, and uttered the final words, It is finished, did Satan realize what a colossal mistake he made by inciting the people to carry out his will. Only then did he realize that he no longer had power over death, and that now mankind had a way of escape from hell. Once Satan realized what a tragic error he made, he tried to cover up his tracks right away by informing the public through his faithful servants the Sadducees and Pharisees that Jesus’ body was stolen in the night by His disciples; that He never rose from the dead... Satan’s been using that lie and many others like it for nearly 2000 years. About a hundred years ago, a skeptic journalist by the name of Frank Morison set out to prove Satan right about the myth of Jesus’ resurrection, and instead became converted and wrote about his research and final conclusion in a book called, Who Moved the Stone? that’s still profound today as it was when first written. Satan, being the father of lies, has no choice but to continue working at his craft. He’ll convert many future generations to his way of thinking; that he’s more powerful than his Creator, and it’s therefore best to follow him down the false path, never admitting that the Lord is always in control. So, on Christmas my thoughts turn to, Thank God for Jesus with heartfelt joy, while during Easter, it becomes, Thank you, Satan with antagonistic laughter. Thank you, Satan for your blind ego. Thank you, Satan for your insane hatred. Thank you, Satan for your ignorant ways. Thank you, Satan for being the cause by which mankind now has a way of escape from you for all eternity. Thank you, Satan for your idiocy. Thank you. By now, you can probably see why ol’ Scratch has a deep, profound hatred for me, and has been wanting me dead since birth. It’s quite an honour to be a thorn in his side. Our sole purpose in life is to serve our Creator in whatever capacity He wishes and desires for us. That’s why we were created and why we are placed upon this earth in this particular time. We should all do our very best to be thorns in Satan’s side. It’s God’s will and Satan’s torment. Until next month, Kevin |
