AUTOGRAPHED 8X10 B&W GREAT WALL OF CHINA PHOTO

This black and white, 8x10-inch photo was taken on the last day (June 29, 1990) of Kevin’s two-month, 1200-mile Great Wall of China adventure just outside the coastal resort town of Shanhaiguan. Exhausted and dehydrated with three cracked ribs, Kevin had just 15 miles to go before reaching the first gate under Heaven and immortality.

THE FIRST DAY COVER AMERICAN SUMMITS ENVELOPE

This handmade, 4x9-inch (#10) envelope was specially created in honor of the 10th anniversary of American Summits (1993 – 1995) that shows Kevin and his mountain bike at –40 degrees below zero (F) at the 17,200-foot elevation level of Alaska’s Mount McKinley (Denali) on June 10, 1995. Each envelope is personally signed and numbered by Kevin. The 80-cent Mount McKinley stamp was hand cancelled on the 10th anniversary start date of the Tour, July 2, 2003. The front of the envelope also has an often-said verse that Kevin used to remind himself of as he forged ahead to place his mountain bike atop the highest natural point in each of the 50 united States. It’s taken from the Book of Matthew, chapter 17, verse, 20, which reads:  Jesus said, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain move and it shall move, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  On the back of the envelope is a picture and a description of the Kaweah Commonwealth, California post office where the envelope was hand cancelled. If you enjoy collecting special First Day Cover Envelopes, you’ll want to add this very limited supply to your collection.

Along with the FDC envelope comes the 8x10-inch, black and white, autographed Great Wall of China photo as shown above.
